Greenwood

Named after the historic Green-Wood Cemetery, Greenwood is following in the footsteps of its neighbor to the north, Park Slope. Originally a Polish and Italian immigrant neighborhood, Greenwood grew ethnically diverse as South American and Mexican immigrant communities emerged. Today, young professionals and families, looking for an affordable, quiet area, are increasingly interested in Greenwood’s wood-frame houses and new condos. Greenwood’s commercial area features restaurants of various cuisines and a popular bar scene but isn’t as comprehensive as other neighborhoods’ retail districts - an inconvenience to residents that signals at the neighborhood’s growth potential.
